My very first try at watercolour (2006)

Gosh this picture is ancient, I done this for my college portfolio way back in 2006. I still remember painting this in my art classes in my first college. I never been shown how to use watercolour or seen anyone else do it infront of me, I got told by my art teacher I should use these and did what ever felt natural to me. And loe and behold, this actually turned out better than expected. I miss using watercolours, maybe I should start using them again. My art teacher at the time wasn't really impressed with this sadly "Japanese cartoons aren't art!" I can't believe she made me draw japanese hand fans, because she didn't like the fact I was drawing manga. In the end I retaliated and carried on doing manga, which sadly really affected my grade at the end of that semester... (enough rambling now) Anyway what do you all think of this?
